Camp Shoes - What You Must Know Before Buying

Camp Shoes have come a long way from their humble origins of being simple hiking boots. Today's camp shoes have evolved to become very useful for a variety of recreational activities. In the past, outdoor footwear was relegated to the most grueling of activities; today's camp shoes can be used for hiking, trail walking, rock climbing, mountaineering, backpacking, snowboarding, sledding, fishing, ATVing, and even camping! The list of activities in which camp shoes can be used goes on. Whether you're looking for the ultimate high-tech, designer hiking boot or are looking for the lightest, most flexible shoe for your budding mountain biker, camp shoes will fit the bill!

Historically, besides being sturdy, these shoes were also waterproof. In fact, some pairs could keep your feet warm in the deep cold, even when feet were frozen to the ground. The evolution of hiking boots has lead to the modern day's improved technology that allows for waterproofing but Camp Shoes have also evolved. The best Camp Shoes are light weight, have a snug fit, and an excellent traction sole to take you where you need to go.

One popular type of Camp Shoe is a midsole or Compressor Shoe. Midsole Camp Shoes are made up of rubber and/or foam and include a rigid midsole and outsole that compresses down to 6 ounces for extra stability in any type of environment. Midsole Camp Shoes are usually used in lightweight daypacks, lightweight snowshoes, or lightweight trail shoes because of their superior stability and durability. A typical midsole Camp Shoes (Ace, Longitude, slack distance, etc.) is equipped with an arch brace for extra protection and usually has a semi-curved sole for better balance.

Camp Shoes that are called "crocs" are very lightweight, comfortable, and very versatile. A pair of crocs (one pair fits one foot) will quickly become one of your most loved items in your outdoor wardrobe. These Camp Shoes come in various colors such as black, brown, beige, chestnut, navy blue, white, and yellow. They have an extremely high traction sole and are great for hiking, walking, and standing in nearly any weather.

Flip-flops are the all time comfortable shoe, whether you are hiking, dancing, strolling, or just lying around the house taking a walk around the block. Flip-flops can be an extremely inexpensive way to dress up your casual look. With a nice pair of flip-flops under your dancing skirt, you will be the talk of the town. Flip-flops come in many different designs including sandal toed, open toe, high heeled, open toe, princess, and back. There is definitely a style to fit your taste.

Camping Footwear needs to be extremely comfortable in order to make a lasting impression on your guests. To test durability, check the soles to see if they are well cushioned. Some of the more expensive Camp Shoes will have EVA midsoles and EVA outsole for maximum comfort. For moderate hikes and walking on the beach, medium to heavy duty Camp Shoes, such as the Black Diamond, Madrock, or Eagle Creek, are recommended.

Ramble Puff - Most of the Ramble Puff Camp Shoes, such as the Madrock, Eagle Creek, and Black Diamond, are extremely comfortable. The Ramble Puff line has several styles including sandal toed, open toe, high heel, and backpack. These Camp Shoes have an open mesh tongue that allows air flow, but some of the models do not. A Camp Footwear con is that some models do not have the rubber shank that some of the other brands have, which can be an issue for people who are used to walking around on rocks. In addition, some of these shoes are made of a material that is a bit thin that can cause blisters.

When shopping for a new pair of Camp Shoes, you will want to choose a pair that is sturdy, flexible, and comfortable. If you plan to backpack and go hiking, be sure that you find a pair of shoes with a durable upper and a flexible sole. Look for a boot that has a double strap that goes across the top of your foot for stability and comfort. Camp Footwear is designed to protect your feet while you are experiencing nature at its finest. With proper care, your new Camp Shoes will last a long time.
